Saturday’s life drawing

Every Saturday we get 1, 2 and 3 minutes to sketch. I get through a lot of paper and energy during those 2 hours. We get a few 5 minutes too but they are few. I like drawing at speed, it becomes more instinctive when one doesn’t have time to think.
The venue was Basis here in Stockholm, the model’s name is Roza and my paper was A3 in size.

Sketch Water color Watercolour

The finished watercolour sketch.

I finished these two sketches last week, only posting them now. I am  painting larger versions for an upcoming exhibition in April. It’s good to do sketch first, one learns a lot by taking ones time and experimenting, unexpected happy accidents or silly mistakes that shouldn’t be repeated.

The original reference photos were taken by Finish photographer, Erik Lähteenmäki. You can visit his website here.

Each sketch size: 39 x 14 cm

Life drawing.

  1. I didn’t go to life drawing last week due to illness. These drawings were from the week before. Sketched on A3 paper.

Drawing friends

I met my life drawing friends at the weekend. We spent the afternoon drawing each other in the basement of an apartment block which was fun, we did this because the life drawing season after the Christmas break hasn’t got going just yet. I starts this week though.

My sketchbook is about A5 in size.

Happy New Year!

I had to work through Christmas, no time for art. I’ve started painting again now after quite a break. It’s crazy how fast time passes by, I should wear my watch more often. To get the ball rolling again in 2017 I shall publish some life drawings that I didn’t have time to show before Christmas. I am looking forward to the coming year, I have a lot of dreams I want to fulfil.

Monday’s life drawing

A young tall gymnast with cyclist thighs. He had some interesting poses, like when he stood on his head for two minutes and held perfectly still.

Tuesday’s life drawing

I seem to be back in the swing of thing when it comes to my life drawing. I’m keeping it simple at the moment, I use a 2mm 3b and 3mm 6b mechanical pencil. No watercolouring and no charcoal to distract me from catching the pose.

More life drawing from last week

Trying hard to clear a backlog of work that needs to be published. Trouble is, I need to paint too.
