I painted this from an old photo I took 15 years ago. I can’t remember where it was, somewhere out there in the archipelago. It was a grey day, it was peaceful, this is all I know.

The evening light of summer
The calendar promises summer will arrive soon. Long, warm evenings. It never really gets dark here in Sweden. I’m looking forward to it. 🙂
Summer evening in the archipelago : 36 x 25 cm
The sailing season begins soon.
Yeap, they say, paint what you love. I’m really looking forward to the summer season. I want to camp and sail. To paint plein air from morning till night. To be in the archipelago. To enjoy the constant light.
The Stockholm Archipelago
This is one of my first studio paintings since 2019. Kinda had to believe, but it’s true. My seasonal depression has prevented me until now. I painted last week and I added a few more islands to it yesterday. I’m happy with it. So nice to be painting during the winter months again. 🙂
I just published my latest video:
Painting outdoors in the autumn Ep35
During the summer we sailed to the Åland archipelago, which lies between Sweden and Finland. During the trip I made a short film about my easel set up and kit bag. I do long for the summer months when I see this video.
Sheltering in the outer archipelago
I have good memories from my time in the outer Stockholm archipelago. This watercolour sketch is a bit scratchy but I think it caught the feeling of us sheltering from bad weather pretty well at Sadelöga. I will most likely develop this into a studio painting later in the year.

Enjoying simple things
Experiencing solitude
Feeling lucky to be sailing in the Finnish archipelago. Right now we are on the island of Ekskär.
