I was invited to Poland

I recently returned from a week in Poland, I was invited to Kuligów outside of Warsaw to painting outdoors with Polish, Ukrainian and Latvian artists. There was even an artist from Belarus and Hungry. It was a lovely experience. Not many spoke English, but we all shared the language of art. I took the train from Stockholm to Warsaw, return. That was an interesting adventure also.

Sailing holiday sketches

I have been a bit slow to publish here. These are my watercolours from this summer’s sailing trip. We did not sail so far this year. Just sailed with the wind, sometimes going south, other times sailing northward. We had a lovely three weeks in the archipelago anyway. It’s always beautiful there.

Beautiful Brittany

I came back from my annual visit to beautiful Brittany at the weekend. I had lots of family time and really good food. 🙂

Live portrait painting

I tried my hand at live portrait painting last week. It was very challenging as I am not used to painting a long pose. The model wasn’t very happy, honestly! But he did have two eyes. I seem to have lost one of his eyeballs. Sorry about that Mr. Model!
Thank you Farigh Ghaderi Art Studio! 🙂

Stockholm – Mariehamn

I played with Lunar Black paint from Daniel Smith in this watercolour . If you look closely at the top and bottom of the painting, you will see a lot of pigment granulation. Lots of fun.

The reference picture for this watercolour was taken a number of years ago. I was cycling home one evening, the water was so calm, it was like a mirror. A beautiful scene. I’ve tried my best to capture the moment.

Memory lane

I had my first exhibition at “Galleri T” back in April 2016. It was a great success, and it was an important step in my development. A lot of my friends bought paintings. I learned later that selling watercolours is more of a challenge when people you know have bought their fill.
Galleri T is situated in the Old Town in Stockholm, quite close to the Royal Palace.

The slow life in Sicilian Lipari

I spent a number of years sailing in the Mediterranean. I was a guest on my father in law’s sailing boat. It was a privilege to spend two weeks just cruising. Delicious meals in small harbour towns. Slowly making our way from one point on the map to another. Nice, very nice.

Unseen to be seen

I am very happy and honoured to feature in this mini catalogue titled ‘Unseen to be seen’. It is an exhibition of watercolours only 8 x 5 cm in size. This is the brainchild of Rajat Subhra Bandopadhyay.

He contacted me 4 years ago and asked if I would like to participate in the mini exhibition with watercolour masters from around the world. I was quite shocked and later flattered that he would consider me to be a master.

Unfortunately, this was 2020. Covid came and ruined the party. The project was put on ice and that was that.

But out of the blue, Rajat contacted me a few weeks back. I was truly delighted that he managed to publish the catalogue after all this time. I wish him the best of luck with this and any other project he has in the pipeline.
