Hi, to anyone who attends my life drawing evenings at Dieselverkstaden.
This Friday there will be no life drawing class due to Alla helgons dag (All Saints Day). The next “Meldrum Kroki will be on the 9th of November. Welcome!
Yes, I said I was not going to paint sailing boats for a while and this is so far true. I cannot resist the sea though, I could never stop painting the ocean, I love it too much.
This watercolour is painted on Arches rough paper and is 70 x 24 cm.
Have a nice weekend!

Stretching watercolour paper
I’ve started giving watercolour tips on YouTube. In the first episode I talk about how and why I stretch watercolour paper.
Sunsets
One should avoid sunsets, most artists and photographers will tell you that.
So it was a challenge to find a theme that made a sunset acceptable in the eyes of critics. The subject I have chosen has divided Europe since 2015. I do not know how people will react to my watercolour, it speaks to me clearly enough but I also know that my neighbour might see something totally different.

My latest YouTube vlog exclusive
Yes, with the exception of my Patreon supporters you are the first to see this new episode of Meldrum Art – Watercolour Journeys. I visit Iwakuni, my son’s hometown and sketch the Kintaikyo Bridge. The Cherry Blossoms were in full bloom, it was so beautiful. Back at home I try to capture that wonderful day as best I can in watercolour. The video will be available to all later today on YouTube.
One of my first watercolours
One of my first watercolours from 2012. I should try painting portraits, I painted so few when I think about it.
At least it’s not a sailing boat
Yes, it’s not a sailing boat but one of the old ferries that work everyday here in Stockholm. I love painting water and sky, I will never stop painting them but I can be brave and take a break from sailing boats for a while, a good while.
My plan is to start painting people more. I bought a new camera with a super zoom lens so that I can capture people doing their things. I was out cycling around town today taking lots of photos. I felt a bit like a voyeur but I’m sure I’ll get used to street photography after a few tries.

My last watercolour of a sailing boat
This is my last sailing boat for a while. It’s time to challange myself with other things.
New life drawing venue
Meldrum Kroki has moved to Dieselverkstaden in Sickla starting Friday, September 14, 2018. (I should have published this earlier on my blog!)
Fridays 18.30 to 20.30. Cost 120kr – coffee included. One can pay with Swish, cash or card. Bring your own material and it is recommended to arrive at least 10 minutes beforehand to get yourself a good seat.
Meldrum Kroki wants to offer the opportunity to draw Stockholm’s best life drawing models along with good lighting, nice background music and great coffee.
All artistic levels are welcome!
Address: Dieselverkstaden, Marcusplatsen 17, 131 81 Nacka.
Meldrum’s tip: There is a pub right next to Dieselverkstaden where you can view and discuss the evening’s drawings together afterwards. Cheers!
