First week report …

My first week as full-time artist was spent swimming in the deep end of video production. I plan to have a regular vlog on Youtube, more about that at a later date. I also want to produce art demonstrations or even tutorials. I really know very little about video production so I’ve been studying Premiere Pro all week until my brain went numb. Now I know how to use my Go Pro camera and my Lumix too. I’m experimenting with microphones, sound recording is harder than I thought. What names should my wee recording buddies have? At last I will get a chance to paint tomorrow. Have a nice weekend.

Filming the process with a GoPro

Sunday was a rainy day here in Stockholm so I stayed in my studio and played with my GoPro camera. I filmed myself painting a sketch in my Moleskin journal. I have an ambition to publish films of my painting process to help others learn from the knowledge that I have gained since I started in 2012. I need to learn how to edit film, next weeks project I guess.

Hopefully I have something to show real soon…

Paul Klein on becoming a successful artist

I thought Paul here had good advice to offer on becoming a successful artist. I’m just starting out, having just become a half-time employee and therefore halving my income. I need a certain level of success if I want to afford visiting my son in Tokyo etc. This is why I found this video interesting, he has the experience that I have to gain, the quicker I learn the better.

Drawing the Eye by David Jon Kassan

I’ve admired David’s portrait skills for a number of years now. I watched this video when I was having breakfast this morning. It wasn’t the first time I watched it, some films can be watched over and over again.

Jim McVicker: A Way of Seeing

I found this film about Jim McVicker to be very inspiring, mainly because I feel that I am on the same path. I’m just starting out, at least that is the way it feels.
