I have been traveling around Dalarna, Sweden which is the home of many famous Swedish artists. The other day we visited Carl Larsson’s home and today we visted Anders Zorn’s house and Museum in Mora. I am totally inspired by Zorn’s work, especially his watercolours. The tour of his home was also a wow – sensation.

Two hours too much
Still having problems painting a nude in the same position for two hours. I am using Arches 300g, rough watercolour paper and haven’t gotten used to it yet. It takes the pigment so well and dries so slow, I need to adjust. I can also blame myself for my lack of skill. Here are two preliminary sketches I did before getting it wrong with the watercolour.
My latest sources of inspiration
I bought these DVDs by Herman Pekel and Alvaro Castagnet last week. They are great, their styles are similar, loose and full of expression. I’m not so sure I want to be so free but then again maybe I am heading that way, who knows. Very busy at work at the moment, not much time to paint. I’m looking forward to having more time again at the end of the month.

Upside down world
For the last three weeks we’ve had a carpenter re flooring the apartment. It’s was a crazy idea to live there while it was being done, and painting watercolours was just not a possibility. Anyway, the apartment is finished now and it’s looking great. Once all the dust has been removed, and the furniture put back in place – I’ll be back in business. Last night I did this quick sketch, I had no reference, so it’s from the mind, strange place; my mind.
